Stop.

I wrote about my dogs a lot in my book and still going on a dog walk can be the most productive thing I can ever do – second maybe is sitting in my hot tub or taking a nap (not in the hot tub).

I read somewhere that Einstein would go on a bike ride when stuck solving a problem and come home with the answer.  I am not sure I want to ride my bike that long, but I do think there is something to stepping away, doing something different, and then returning with a clear mind.

I am pretty sure most dogs would love to be walked, so if you don’t have any of your own, borrow one – or take yourself on a walk.  En Vogue had it right – free your mind and the rest will follow.  Now, they are actually singing about liberation, so the rest may take a long long time to follow.  Starting with moments that encourage a clear mind.

I can often get very overwhelmed and this turns into manic panic in the worst way or slothdom in the worst way and it is a balance in between the two that can keep me focused on a task at hand while also finding the beauty around me.  Being available to make connections with myself and others and between ideas is my work and movement seems to unlock what I don’t even know is locked away in my mind.

Spell Check says slothdom isn’t a word.  I think spell check needs to go on a dog walk.
